It’s that time of year where we start gearing up for another HDNextGen Summer Camp Season!
I wanted to take a moment to highlight our camp programs taking place this summer, as well as make you aware of our 2017 HDNextGen Concept, Missions Project and all online camp information.
We’re excited to announce that all Summer Camp Dates, Materials (forms, posters, etc.) and Resources for each program are now available online at HDNextGen.com/summer-camps! As in previous years, we will still mail paper registration packets for individual programs to churches that request one, and to do so, simply email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or contact the District Office.
2017: A Generation at Peace
Our 2017 HDNextGen Concept (a unifying focus of all our camp programs) is “A Generation at Peace”. In a world that is full of turmoil, unrest and frenetic pacing, we will focus on the importance of knowing Jesus Christ that the generations can know His peace. Imagine if kids, youth and young adults were able to describe their lives as peaceful! From this you will see unique camp and event themes focused on helping students rise to the challenge and live out Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Will you join us in being diligent to invite NextGen aged from your city, community, and church to join us at camp so that the next generation of lives will be different–with the Prince of Peace reigning every day?! We are expectant for hearts to be stirred and lives transformed this year in every HDNextGen Summer Camp program!
2017 Missions Project: Middle East Refugee Crisis
Each year, all Summer Camps throughout the Heartland District partner together to give a mission’s offering to a specific Foursquare Mission’s project. This year, our hearts are burdened in the midst of the largest refugee crisis since World War II. As millions flee terror in the Middle East, they pass through the nation of Turkey, where some will remain while others continue to Europe and other nations.
Although we are concerned for all, we are particularly mindful of the vulnerable: children and seniors. As winter approaches, and many are seeking shelter in unsafe and unheated buildings, we want to help—and we invite you to join us in doing so.
Through partnership with The Foursquare Church in Turkey and Foursquare Disaster Relief, we as the church have the opportunity to get involved, and support our brothers and sisters as they care firsthand for Middle East refugees. We will help feed hundreds of families every week, assist in Church planting and Bible Studies, provide wheelchairs and other practical needs to those injured in the war, especially children, provide emotional support and counseling to parents whose children have been injured in the war and educate children who otherwise have no chance of education due to having fled their country.
I personally appreciate the efforts of our directors, leaders, and pastors throughout the district, seeing the value of camp and doing everything possible to not only ensure students are able to attend, and also for the continued dedication to increase students’ spiritual understanding and raising up the next generation of world-changers. I thank you for your partnership and look forward to what God is going to do this summer!
