“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” Martin Luther King Jr.
I am always worried about taking the “next steps” in my life. I can get so focused on my “future steps” that, sometimes I can easily miss my “now step.” I wonder how many times I have missed what the Lord was saying “now” because I was concerned about what He was going to say next?
Reflecting on the past two years of my life, I personally have been through multiple transitions. During these times, I would look towards what was next and I would worry about what was to come. However, the Lord came through every single time, He always provided, He always made a way.
“Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
I love this scripture because it always brings me back to be grounded in what the Lord is saying to me “now.” It reminds me not to be anxious about what is next, because the Lord already knows. I must trust in Him and rely that He will take care of my “next step.”
